This leaves both Optimus and Rigs at 7-7 at the end of the season which moves us to a tiebreak based on the following:
- Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs)
- Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division
- Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games
- Points scored in Head-to-head matchups
- Points scored in games played within the division
As commissioner, this is my interpretation of the results of the tiebreaking procedure:
Head-to-head matchups is tied at 1-1 and division records are tied at 4-4 so we move to the third tiebreaker: Record in common games.
Head-to-head matchups is tied at 1-1 and division records are tied at 4-4 so we move to the third tiebreaker: Record in common games.
There is slight confusion because Rigs played Butt twice (Optimus played Butt once) and Optimus played Boom twice (Rigs played Boom once). The reason for confusion is if Butt had been a really bad team, it would be unfair for Rigs to get to play Butt twice and Optimums only play Butt once (vice versa for Boom). Thus, I thought of two ways to resolve this in order to be most FAIR and in both methods Rigs comes out on top:
1) Exclude all Butt and Boom games. If I do this, then Rigs is 2-1 in common games and Optimus is 1-2 in common games (vs Combat, Dawg, and Blue)
2) Include all games, but give "half" credit to teams which one person played twice and the other played once. Thus for Rigs, he has two losses against Butt, but it "counts" as one loss because I give him half a credit for each loss (Optimus gets a Win). Same thing for Boom: Rigs gets 1 win and Optimus gets a tie since he won one and lost one against Boom. Thus, the final record comes out for common games: Rigs 3-2-0 and Optimus 2-2-1.
In both cases, Rigs comes out the winner
I believe this to be a fair interpretation of the tie-breaking procedures. However, when informed Optimus of this interpretation, he has requested a chance to propose his own interpretation of the tiebreaking procedures, which I have granted.
You will all receive an blogpost from Optimus Primetime by the end of the day. This will be followed by a League vote on which interpretation of the tiebreaking procedure is most valid.
